Teaching Artist and Administrative Assistant

Spotlight Theatre is seeking a dynamic and talented person to be a Teaching Artist and Administrative Assistant.  This position serves as the right-hand to the Artistic Director, managing weekly artistic operations. Key responsibilities are likely to include:

· Directing/Choreographing productions  (Music Direction a plus)

· Participating actively in season planning: recommending numbers for production, developing ideas for future productions

· POSITION DESCRIPTION ● Working with the to help envision and implement education initiatives ● Supervising and mentoring students ● Representing the theatre and its mission at public events ● Provide general support for the Artistic Director, as needed with scheduling and general organization

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Spotlight is seeking an individual with considerable talent, dedication for working with children,  passion for theatre, a strong work ethic

· Experience teaching and directing children

· Create lesson plans that are appropriate for different age groups

· Provide students with necessary feedback, critique, encouragement and support

· Attend staff meetings

· Patience and understanding

· Creativity for cast exercises

· Manage stressful situations

· Communication and interpersonal skills

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 

· Creating and maintaining a production schedule for each troupe

· Working closely with Directors and other department heads to make decisions regarding set, costume, lighting and other aspects of a production and ensure these are within the budget of the production

· Keeping rehearsal space, Storage Space, Office space and backstage areas organized

· Ensuring decisions made regarding the set of a production are carried out safely

· Music direction a plus
